20 Things I've Learnt Before Turning 20

I am turning 20 on Thursday, can you believe it? On Thursday I will have been alive for TWO WHOLE DECADES. I'm not ready to become an adult, but I thought it seemed fitting to talk about the 20 things I've learnt as I've been growing up.

1. Stop worrying about 'what if'.

2. Take every opportunity.

3. Cherish your family while you have them. 

4. The world definitely does not revolve around guys. 

5. Hiding in your room is not going to solve your anxiety and depression.

6. You are more capable than you believe. 

7. You will always be jealous of what your body looked like a couple of years ago, so just love it!

8. You will never need all of that birthday money when you're a kid but you definitely need it when you're over 18 and you stop getting it! 

9. Always be the bigger person. 

10. Play Toto Africa after everything you achieve on the to-do list - productivity levels increase massively.

11. You're not the only one who isn't having the best time at uni. 

12. Remember why you wanted what you have.

13. Only trust yourself.

14. Do things for yourself, not because you think others want you to. 

15. Don't look back at all the bigger, bad things; remember all of the little good things.

16. School/uni work will seem like you're constantly knocking your head against the wall but before you know it it will have been and gone. 

17. "Phone, keys, money" whenever you go anywhere.  

18. Spend money on experiences and memories rather than tangible products. 

19. Spending money on a good hair cut does a world of good for your self esteem.

20. Everything happens for a reason. 

I don't think I've made all the best life choices over the last few years, and I overthink everything, but I'm content. There will always be something to stress over and I will always be working on making myself happier, but I consider myself lucky about where I am right now!

It's been a week and I still don't feel any more like an adult. I'm eighteen now, but I look about 15 and I still don't know how to iron! It's kind of one of those "oh f*ck" moments when you realise that you're responsible for every single little part of your life from here on in. 

I had an amazing 18th birthday though. There was obviously a party, and then the family get together to make up for it, and then on my actual birthday me and Harry, and mum and dad went to the East Sussex National spa. It was so nice to just relax after such a busy bank holiday weekend and I'm definitely going to become a member to one of those health clubs once I'm balling!

I brought a gorgeous lace bodycon on Topshop for the occasion, as well as an equally as gorgeous playsuit from Charlotte Crosby's Nostalgia range on InTheStyle.com. A few days before Dad was up in London running around trying to find the Topshop dress while I was on the phone trying to find stores where I could hold it and wait for him to pick it up. Who knew one dress could cause so much stress?!! But you've got to turn 18 in style right??!!

Sweet Sixteen

This weekend I turned 16! Mum's motto for the day was "you only turn sixteen once" and she really did go all out there!

We started off the day by opening all my presents and I was given the loviest handbag, a Pandora bracelet, tickets to go and see McBusted (again!) at Hyde Park and lots of money. Afterwards, we headed out and went for some birthday breakfast. I don't mean to sound rude, but having breakfast at the local chavvy carvery wasn't exactly my preffered way of eating it, but the boys were eager for a fry up so hey ho. From there we carried on into Brighton, did a spot of shopping, walked around a few of my favourite spots (I'd reccommend the North Laines to anyone!), had a couple of games of bowling and finished it off at Gormet Burger. In the evening I had everyone round for drinks and mum made the cutest little set-up in the garage for us. The second to last picture of us isn't the most photogenic - excuse my father's photography - but it shows we were having fun right?

I admit, I was a very lucky girlie. I was given a bunch of amazing presents, I spent the day with everyone I couldn't live without and the sun even made an appearance! It was the perfect excuse to wear my new Zara dress and relax - if only we could have 3 day weekends every week. Sigh.
