Strawberry ice cubes

With over two weeks of beautiful, hot, sunny weather I think we've all established that it's finally summer. It's time to bring the fresh summer fruits and the ice cold drinks out, but after having the idea of killing two birds with one stone, putting them together is 100x better.

I found inspiration of these strawberry ice cubes on Tumblr and whoever came up with this is a genius. They look so cute and make give your water a bit more taste, making the whole water-drinking experience a bit more interesting really.

They're so easy to make too, all you need is:

  • An ice cube mould (we've got ours from IKEA and they're made out of silicone so it's easy to pop them out)
  • Strawberries
  • A chopping board
  • A knife
  • A jug
  • Water

How to make them:

  1. Using the knife, cut the strawberries into small chunks on the chopping board and place them into each mould, depending on the size of the mould.
  2. Fill the jug with water and carefully fill each mould up. However don't fill it right to the top as the water needs space to expand when it freezes. (You don't have to use a jug, you can just put the mould under the tap, it just makes it a little bit easier)
  3. Place the mould into your freezer making sure that you don't spill anything and you have a clear space to put it.
  4. Leave in the freezer for 24 hours at the least.
  5. Once they've frozen you can pop them out into you drink and enjoy!

P.s. you don't have to use strawberries, me and Harry also tried it with grapes and I'm sure things like raspberries, blueberries and apples would work just as great too!
