Blogmas | Day 24 | The Last Day of Blogmas!!

It's the last day of Blogmas! I can't believe how quick this month has gone, it only feels like a few days ago when I decided to do this. I admit, it probably wasn't the best Blogmas that you've seen but I'm pretty impressed with myself for keeping up with it, even if I did miss a few days here and there.

Christmas Eve is usually a time when my family finishes off the presents and just packs in a load of Christmas films and TV, circling what we want to watch on the Radio Times guide, but this year I have to work *sob*. I am literally wishing for a Christmas miracle that we get let off early and I can finally just sit and relax and maybe then I'll feel a little bit more excited.

I just want to say thank you to whoever took the time to give this all a read, I wasn't really expecting anyone to be bothered, let alone me finishing it!

Merry Christmas! I love you all :*

Blogmas | Day 23 | Gingerbread House

One of my favourite parts of Christmas time is taking part in annual traditions that have developed in the family over the years, and one of ours is making a gingerbread house. We started doing it 2 years ago and for some reason Harry and my brother were in charge and it just went a bit tits up. Luckily we've got better over time and I'm quite proud of my little gingerbread house that we made today, not sure if it's Insta-worthy or not but it's Christmas, who cares.

I can't believe it's Christmas Eve tomorrow. I hate to admit it but I really don't feel Christmassy at all. Maybe wearing a Christmas jumper to work, doing some last minute shopping and a pile of Christmas films will do it!

Blogmas | Day 22 | Christmassy Nails

Rimmel London 60 Seconds - 320 Rapid Ruby
AVON Nailwear Pro+ - Golden Vision
OPI Mariah Carey - The Impossible
OPI Mariah Carey - Stay the Night

So, you've got the perfect party dress and the most gorgeous pair of shoes to go with it, but your nails are looking a bit boring and what sounds better than painting on a bit of sparkly nail varnish. Whether  you want to dig deep into your old nail polishes and find a classic bright red or go out and buy a new glittery one, no accessory looks better than a perfectly manicured hand!

I have a pretty big draw full of nail varnishes so I love finding old ones that I used to love and reliving that feeling, such as the OPI Mariah Carey Liquid Sand ones. If you're looking for some new ones though, I've seen some really pretty new Barry M ones (and you get a free Gelly Hi Shine Ruby Limited Edition when you spend £6 in Superdrug) and Models Own have their Chrome collection out too at the moment that look like a great twist on the sparkly nails.

What's your favourite polish to wear at this time of the year?

Blogmas | Day 21 | Reflections On The Year

Looking back at some of these pictures has made me realise how fantastic this year has been. I think I've grown up a lot and made memories that will last forever.

This year has been very education/life/future driven because at 17 you have to start making choices that will head you towards the rest of your life. For example, I've chosen to go to university next year to study Fashion Media/Communication so I spent the year looking around different uni's and now I've got to push myself and drive myself towards getting the grades I need to get into Nottingham Trent. I also started learning to drive this year and although there's a lot of times where I feel like I should give up because right now there's just no point, I have progressed and I passed my theory test with flying colours and who knows, I might just need the skills sooner than I think.

I also went on some fantastic holidays like Manchester and Paris, which I will definitely be going back to one day. It was so hard trying to select the right photographs but whichever ones I show you, it's clear to see that we had a lovely time.

There's been a lot of hatred in the world this year but compared to previous years, I haven't been happier. Although I finally feel like I know where I want to go in life, I'm just going to see where next year takes me. I just want to enjoy myself and make some more memories. I've got my 18th birthday, I'm going to Gran Canaria and a road trip around Europe and I want to pass my driving test, but most importantly I've got Harry, my friends and my family by my side.

Blogmas | Day 20 | Winter Wonderland

Yesterday (today... the 20th December if we want to pretend I'm not quickly writing this up the day after) me and Harry went to London. Our main purpose was to go to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park because it's a Christmas tradition of mine, but we also popped into St Pancras, to see the tree made out of Disney toys,  Covent Garden and also Oxford Street to see Selfridges' window displays and the pretty lights.

I'd seen the St Pancras tree on Instagram and I'm easily excited by things like this so it was a must that we went to see it. When we got there it was truly magical. Everyone was walking around with their suitcases ready to spend their Christmas in France, there was a choir singing Christmas songs and then the tree, which had snow falling down over it from the ceiling.

The whole day was magical really. Covent Garden looked stunning with the larger than life mistletoe and so did Oxford Street. I feel in love with the Selfridges window display, Hannah Emslie and her team have done an amazing job with the zodiac theme. And as always, Winter Wonderland never fails to amaze me, even if it is incredibly over priced and packed!

Blogmas | Day 17 & 18 | What's On My Christmas Tree?

You know it's Christmas when the Christmas tree goes up and even as I get older it never fails to excite me. This year we've gone for a gold theme with red and white candy canes and it looks gorgeous! It different gold tones go really well together and goes really well with the camel colours that are on trend at the moment. My favourite bauble this year has to be the Mickey head. We have a pink sequinned one and I was so desperate to put it on but it obviously didn't look right. Damn.

Today's my first day on Christmas holidays so me and the girls are going to watch Christmas films all day and basically pig out. Now the Christmas tree is up and we've finished decorating the house it's going to be so cute!

Blogmas | Day 15 & 16 | The Christmas Tag!

As you probably know, I'm doing Blogmas this year and unprepared is a complete understatement. I decided on the 30th November that I was going to do it and I was up till gone 12 thinking of 24 different ideas. So far I think I haven't done that badly, there's been a few days where I haven't scheduled a post (having known that I was going to be busy) or just not got round to it. Like yesterday. I REALLY do apologise that I wasn't prepared but I got called in to work and then time just ran away.

Today I'm going to do a joint post as a Christmas tag, which I've been looking forward to doing for ages!

1. What is your favourite christmas film?
Either Deck The Halls or Love Actually, both of which I'm going to be watching on Friday on my day off!

2. Have you ever had a white christmas?
Not to my knowledge. I don't think England's had a white christmas for the last 20 years has it?

3. Where do you usually spend Christmas day?
I've spend Christmas day everywhere to be honest. For my first Christmas we lived in Leicester and then for my second Christmas we were in New Zealand. Ever since then we've changed about, spending it at different family members' or sometimes just at home. This year we're going to my aunty's house with my dad's side of the family which makes a nice change.

4. What is your favourite Christmas song?
Oh my god this is a hard one. I kind of just find a Christmas playlist on YouTube and some I really get into and some I don't. I quite like Coldplay's Christmas Lights but I think The Fairy Tale of New York is an absolute classic.

5. Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
Since last year me and Harry have opened a couple of our Christmas presents from each other on Christmas Eve just because we won't see each other open them on Christmas day.

6. Can you name all of Father Christmas' reindeer?
Donna, Dancer, Prancer, Rudolph, Donner, Vixon, how many are there?

7. What holiday traditions are you most looking forward to this year?
Me and Harry are going to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park on Sunday and I'm super excited about that because I've been for the last 4/5 years. I'm also looking forward to sitting on my parents bed in our pyjamas opening our stocking presents and then going down for a massive English breakfast.

8. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Fake. Although I would absolutely love to have a real one and go out and choose it.

9. What is your all time favourite food/sweet treat at Christmas?
Mince Pies of course!

10. Do you prefer to give presents or receive them? Be honest!
On one hand I love going Christmas shopping and finding different things for everyone and trying to find things they maybe wouldn't have expected, but on the other hand, in all honesty I do get quite enjoy opening presents because I love the surprise!

11. What is the best Christmas gift you've ever received?
If I'm going to be absolutely honest with you I don't really know. I've had a lot of lovely presents through the years, but one memory that stands out was my green iPod nano. I went on and on about it for months and my parents actually brought me one but wrapped it up in a load of different boxes until I got down to the packaging of the iPod.

12. Where would be your dream place to spend the Christmas season?
Probably New York! Or maybe in a log cabin somewhere with an open fire!

13. How are your wrapping skills?
I don't want to blow my own trumpet but I don't think I'm too bad at the whole present wrapping business. I've made sure that my Christmas presents this year all have the same wrapping and a crossing bow and a brown paper tag and they look so pretty!

14. Most memorable Christmas moment?
A few years ago we spent Christmas up in Cumbria and I think it was on Christmas Eve, mum made is open these soft presents in the morning and they were Christmas jumpers. I don't think they were matching, but she made us wear them out and everyone who passed us thought it was hilarious!

15. What made your realise Father Christmas wasn't real?
I think it was probably just kids at school. Once you know the tooth fairy isn't real it's a downwards spiral.

16. Do you make New Years resolutions and do you stick to them?
I always make resolutions, but do I stick to them?... no.

17. What makes Christmas time special for you?
Wrapping my presents whilst listening to Christmas music is always the start of Christmas for me. That, along with snuggling up with a blanket and a hot chocolate and watching Christmas films with my friends and family. You realise just how blessed you are to have so many people around you.

Blogmas | Day 14 | Top 6 Party Dresses

1. ASOS Sparkle Mesh Glitter Mini Prom Dress - ASOS - £85
2. Geo Knit Dress - Topshop - £45
3. Stripe Glitter Bodycon Dress - Topshop - £38
4. Forever Unique Plunge Sequin Fishtail Maxi Dress With Cross Back - ASOS - £210
5. Patterned Silk Blend Shift Dress - Burberry - £950
6. Red Bardot Bodycon Pencil Dress - River Island - £55
Admittedly, I don't go to many Christmas parties! But I love to dream, and when I do get the chance to go to one, I make the most of it!! I appreciate that a couple of these dresses are way too out of some of our price ranges, but don't you just love these dresses?! Burberry is just everything anyway, but at Christmas I love it 10 times more, especially with this year's Billy Elliot themed advert.

Body cons are always a must at Christmas, if you can't get dressed up at Christmas then when can you!? The second dress from Topshop remind me a lot of the Balmain style and the short turtle necks like the one of the third (Topshop) dress are so in right now.

Blogmas | Day 13 | Christmas Card DIY

Today me and Harry thought we'd spend the day doing something a little different making our own Christmas cards. I really wanted to do a Christmas DIY this year and it kind of made sense to make my own rather than spending more on already made cards. I don't know if I'm the only one who feels this way, but it feels like you mean it a bit more when you give someone something homemade, doesn't it?

These were really easy to make once we'd got our heads around how we'd go about it, because we'd already got inspiration from these I found on Pinterest.

You will need...

  • Paint samples
  • Card
  • Envelopes
  • Glue or double sided tape
  • Scissors

Instructions
  1. Choose your colours. Unfortunately we couldn't find any strips with multiple colour samples so we had to settle with singular samples, but it's just as easy to get the different shades.
  2. Using a separate piece of card, draw out a stencil. Remember, if you're using separate samples like we had to, include a small gap to split each third.
  3. If you're using separate samples cut the individual sections out and draw around them on to the samples. Otherwise just cut the tree and stalk sections out and draw around them onto the samples likewise.
  4. Cut the shapes out.
  5. Fold your card in half (or don't, as we found ready made plain cards at Sainsbury's).
  6. Lay the shapes out to work out where you're going to stick them.
  7. Stick them down and voila!
